What to do when your thyroid has tanked…
Besides getting a FULL thyroid panel done (which will give us a better idea of what’s running the show), as TSH alone tells us nothing about what’s going on, there are many things we can do to shift thyroid health and quickly.
- Strictly no gluten or soya of any kind
- No cow dairy (and for some all dairy at least for a while)
- Reduce high oxalate and high histamine foods
- Being in Ketosis long term
- Eat more! Most people are not eating enough to heal
- Drink more! Dehydration can have a big impact on thyroid health
- Animal-based eating (eating plenty of fats and proteins with every meal)
- Try not to eat to many nuts and seeds and if you do eat local, seasonal and soaked
- Desiccated thyroid supplementation (at least until back on track)
- Remove ALL fluoride, chlorine, and bromine from your diet/water and toothpaste etc
- Consider stopping oral birth control (for thyroid health and lots of other health conditions)
- Reduce stress and regulate nervous system
- Circadian rhythm regulation (which includes feet on the earth every day – which support all kinds of hormonal health)
- Support the liver
- Always cover your thyroid when staring at screens
To help heal the thyroid you have to reduce the stress it’s under, that can be mental or environmental stress, but equally is can be starving ourselves of essential nutrients and eating inflammatory foods (some of these changes will be temporary and some more permanent).
Here is a rough and healthy guide for your thyroid panel…
- TSH is healthy between – 1.5 – 3
- T4 is healthy between – 6 – 12 (below 6 and it could be an iodine deficiency)
- Free is healthy between – 3 -4 (below 1 and it could be an iodine deficiency)
- T3 is healthy between 100 – 180 (below 100 and you are probably not converting properly and probably need tyrosine and selenium and have a toxic liver) NOTE: If you are already in ketosis your T3 will be naturally (and still very healthy) lower as it’s just not needed as much when metabolically healthy
- Free T3 is healthy between – 3 -4 (below 3 and you are probably not converting properly and probably need tyrosine and selenium and have a toxic liver)
- TPO is healthy below 34 (above is the start of Hashimoto’s, which you CAN stop getting worse if you address it early on).
- Reverse T3 is healthy between – 9.2 – 24 (if this is out it’s probably due to, to much cortisol)
- T3 Uptake is healthy between – 28 – 38 (if this is out you probably have estragon dominance)
Please remember I am not a Doctor (only a holistic nutritionist, health coach and therapist), I am simply sharing the years of research and experiments on myself, which has results in my Hashimoto’s now being completely gone and my thyroid still continuing to improve with each month that passes.

If you have any questions at all let me know,

PS: It’s important you get a full thyroid panel (and other tests above) done and do not guess what is going on yourself!
