What could be holding back your health?

I’ve wanted to write this post for a very long time, but I know some people might be upset by some of the content.  But it just seems to important not to share!

After over 13 years of coaching people 1-2-1 and in groups I begin to see patterns and I see that often there are a number of the same things that hold many people back from full health and when changed their health drastically changes too.

Medication is top of the list!  For sure there are some meds taken for short periods of time that are helpful for some people, for somethings.  However, for the most part they really screw with the body’s natural ability to heal, come back into balance and even to feel your body properly and what it really needs.

Most people have been on meds for way too long and also on too many and they all come with side effects for long term use, which are often the same as the very things you are taking them for.   Please though don’t take yourself off of meds by yourself though, always speak with a Doctor first!

Supplements!  Much the same as meds, most people have been on supplements for too long which stops us addressing the root cause of why they were needed.  Also, most people are self-prescribing A LOT of supplements with no real understanding of how they interact with each other or medications.

Most supplements are not needed, and many are full of rubbish too!  Seek our a professional to do a supplement review and get to the root cause instead of wasting money on random supplements.

Not prioritising nervous system regulation and if regulating often, not moving on to building resilience in the nervous system so it’s easier to function in this crazy-ass world again and not be drained and triggered by it all the time.

Not prioritising circadian rhythm regulation.  Sunset and sunrise in the eyes, feet on the ground, no suncreams or sunglasses, breathing fresh air, reducing screen time and time under LED light drastically, eating locally and seasonally and prioritising sleep.  We are animals, we are in need natures rhythms to thrive!

Thinking we need ‘fixing’ in some way and constantly chasing the next thing rather than accepting where we are so we can feel safe again actually heal.

Ketosis!  I know a lot of people get there with fasting for prolonged (not intermittent) times.  Although this can be beneficial, for anyone with nervous system dysregulation it is not.  However, cutting carbs/sugars completely and introducing lots of proteins and fats puts our body into a place where it can heal from sooo many things.  Give it a go for 6 weeks & see how you feel – you have nothing to lose & perhaps a lot to gain!

Making getting well super stressful!  Many people end up suffering from health anxiety and that just adds to the ‘normal’ anxieties already there.  If you feel stressed about your health ‘routine’ then it’s not helping but instead hindering you.

Recovery should include fun, joy, pleasure, inspiration, wholeness, nature, simple and slow things.  These are more healing than any program, protocol and new treatment or therapy.

And, lastly…

Thinking you must make up for lost time, that you are ‘wasting’ your life and that you need to be more, have more or achieve more.

You may feel like you have ‘wasted’ years being unwell, but in reality, you have grown, changed, let-go and understood that we humans aren’t ‘designed’ to live in society the way we are and instead you’ve learnt there is another way.

There is nothing wrong with you!  It’s society that’s in fact a little screwed!
