What i do when an animal is ill on the farm…
(this often applies to humans on the farm too)
I check there poo and urine if I can and I check them over for injuries. If there is nothing noticeable or feelable then it’s almost always one of the following two issues
Parasites or infection
Parasite issues can manifest in lots of strange ways (seeming under the weather, like they have a cold, tired, weak, glazed, confused, difficulty standing or breathing, eating a lot or not eating very much). If you actually see worms in the poo then it’s really advanced by then and needs immediate attention
Parasite issues left untreated in animals can cause them to die.
I treat parasites with a homeopathic combination remedy from Ainsworth (in the UK) it’s called Worm Combo and I get strength 30c.
If one animal seems really ill I will put this remedy directly in their mouth twice daily for a week or so. I also put it in everyone’s fresh water and I sprinkle diatomaceous earth through everyone’s food and add things like dried oregano to their feed also.
If I suspect an infection, then I use this combination remedy from Helios (in the UK), it’s called Hepa-S/Gunpowder/Pyrogen and I get strength 200c.
I will give this 3 times daily for a week and then once or twice daily for another week and then once a week for a month after that.
This remedy is amazing and so far has got rid of every infection, even severe one’s in animals and humans alike
If I’m not sure what’s wrong with an animal I will alternate between these two remedies and also lace the water and food to
I also add diatomaceous earth to areas animals like to ‘bathe’ in and all over the inside of their housing when cleaning them out, this prevent mites etc
The only other reason animals might be unwell is when they have eaten something they should not, but this only usually happens if there is not enough healthy food around for them.
And remember, if you give them things like red cabbage or beetroot, then that there poo might look a bit scary afterwards, much like our own, but they are totally fine!
I never have to call the vet (apart from when Cheetah recently licked a processionary caterpillar (I have a Instagram post about how to deal with this too though), none of my animals are jabbed and all of them are super healthy.
Much the same as humans, when they are allowed to be free-roaming, naturally eating (as possible) animals they/we have little wrong with them/us. And if they aren’t pumped full of chemicals, they/we get over ailments really quickly and are stronger afterwards for it.
