How I poisoned myself being plant-based…
I spent 30+ years being a ‘health freak’ plant-based person (and health coach – sorry)
I thought I was doing it all right!
I ate all the superfoods and took the supplements for the things I believed were hard to get the right levels of being plant-based
I worked on my nervous system and my circadian health and yet I became so very ill.
Why?
Because I was eating somewhere around 2000mg of oxalates a day from all those ‘superfoods’. Everything I ate pretty much was an oxalate!
Sweet potatoes, spinach, celery juices, turmeric, nut and seed milks/butters/flours etc. Name the oxalate and I was eating it.
And, because I was not eating locally or seasonally, I was eating all this stuff every single day of every single year thinking it was helping my health, reducing my inflammation, and fuelling myself in the best possible way!
When I became seriously ill 4 years ago I eventually realised one of the reasons why was because my body had stored a huge amount of oxalates that it did not know what to do with over those decades and I needed to firstly avoid any more damage, assist my body to release the stored oxalates in a safe way and them undo the damage created.
One of the major ways I did this was moving from plant-based to animal-based and the positive difference in my health and vitality has been insane!
Of course, I also poisoned myself with seed-oils (in vegan butters etc) and soya produce (no one should be eating this) and I was starving myself in many other ways not being able to get the nutrients I needed it’s no wonder I became so unwell… but these are different stories for another day!
