The doing of December
December is not a month of doing. It’s not a month of socialising, seeing, being, sugars, sleep deprovision & stress.
It’s a month of rest, depth, nourishment, cosiness, sleep, warmth, slowness, heaviness, inwardness & rootedness.
No matter how hard we try when we push against nature and that wild inside we often find ourselves unwell, ill-at-ease and unsupported.
Nature nourishes by default, she holds, calms, heals & holds when we move with and not against her and our own inner nature.
We can find simple, nourishing ways that go with the seasons and cycles of our own being and nature as a whole to interact with community if we feel called to do so. These approaches allow us to live with more ease/flow, to heal and grow and maybe importantly this time of year to connect.
Walks in the woods, mushroom foraging, deep fire side chats, nourishing foods by candlelight, hugging trees, making decorations and gifts from natures gifts, slow mornings, simple food, sunrise & sunset in the eyes, time to listen to our nervous system and that of the earths, dog walks, cat cuddles, book reading, poetry, knitting, crafting in anyway, the smell of festive scents, long hugs and the sharing in the holding of hot cups of tea whilst putting the world-to-rights.
December teaches us a deeper way to nurture and nourish and thus find comfort, cosiness and connection to self and others. If we ignore this, we can often feel the opposite. A feeling of loneliness and isolation can take over, but that is another gift December brings, to teach us it’s really just our own true nature and that we are ‘missing’ and not the craziness that we are being taught we should be doing/being this time of year.
One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves and our loved one’s this time of year, but actually all year is the gift of listening to the whispers inside and following the flow of life, rather than fight against it.
Festive winter blessings to you all, Faith xx
