Parasites on the Farm..

Many of you may not know but I’m a qualified and certified nutritional therapist and herbalist (among a ton of other weird and wonderful modalities).  And because of this and because I spent a lot of my life struggling with many chronic health conditions (thankfully all gone now) I do my best to find natural ways to treat and of course avoid all together health conditions in us humans and all the many animals here on the farm too.

I am pretty successful at this also, as I have not taken any medications for almost 20 yrs and haven’t felt the need to give any to any animals for many years now either. Which helps to keep the humans and the animals stronger and more resilient moving forward too, wahooo ha

Anyway, I’ve shared many posts on here and on my Instagram pages about natural remedies for many different things, including parasites, but I felt this needed its very own post too, as it’s a big topic!  Why?  Because when you have farm animals you will VERY easily have parasites and regularly, probably, too!

It’s a totally normal thing to happen as poo easily gets mixed with food when you have lots of greedy animals (who often steal food or food-like-substances on the farm).

Once I noticed one animal has parasites I usually dose everyone with some homeopathic remedies to make sure it does not spread or if it already has then it’s nipped-in-the-bud quickly.

Parasites don’t just manifest as worms in the poo, they also show up as upset stomachs, being unable to stop eating or being completely off their food too.  It can also be in chickens if they stop laying or if there is a lot of poo on their eggs when they lay them, or simply just not being their happy selves anymore.

The thing is, if you are always dosing them with medicines for it then this can hinder their health, however if they get a regular dose of something homeopathic, like Cina this has no negative effects at all.  Unlike many herbs that can have unhelpful side-effects for some animals, homeopathic remedies do not.

Basically, if your animal seems off in any way at all then it’s highly likely it’s parasites.

If you cannot get a homeopathic blend into their mouth, then you can dose their water instead.  With many animals it’s easier to get remedies into their mouths once they are sleepy at night (especially chickens).

I regularly put a few drops of raw apple cider vinegar into their water too and use diatomaceous earth in their food once or twice a month and sprinkle it ALL over their coop when I clean it and this reduces parasites and mites etc topically.

You can also use any of the above on or inside humans too for parasite issues, but I find the best approach for us is a course of oregano oil and grape-fruit seed extract.

If you catch parasites early though, they are easy to deal with!  So, for me, if I am ever in doubt, I dose them up and stop it spreading and causing more harm.
