How i learnt to thrive…
It’s been a wild ride this thing called life and especially inside this body! Like many of you out there I’ve collected a wonderful variety of ailments along the way.
A few of these are CFS, Fibro, an 11-year chronic headache, insomnia, depression, anxiety, stress, OCD, body hating, IBS, Hashimoto (and an additional mystery auto-immune concern), heart conditions, thyroid issues, hormonal imbalances, histamine issues, oxalate poisoning, and no doubt a few more that I now cannot remember right now.
I have tried every gadget, gizmo, protocol, program, supplement, diet, treatment, and weirdness you can think of to heal this ‘broken’ body and mind. I’ve spent an absolute fortune on this, always completely invested financially and emotionally on the next thing that promised to sort it all out.
I’ve trained in all sorts of things, from tantra and yoga, to shamanism and nervous system regulation, as of course nutrition and herbalism (and tons more).
Over the years I’ve recovered from most of these things, only to find out I had new thing to fill their place. I never understood it, I was so invested in my health, I no longer suffering from any stresses, lived a beautiful life, ate ALL the health foods/superfoods & supplements and yet every so often a new illness would crop up. WFT?
Then 3.5yrs ago it all started to make sense! I was not living naturally! Yes I was outside a lot and yes I was eating all the local and seasonal foods grown, harvested and preserved by me, but what I came to realise is, although we feel this is natural, it’s really not!
We are not ‘designed’ to…
- Eat the same foods (even if ‘superfoods) every day
- Eat foods/herbs/supplements from other parts of the World
- Eat carbohydrates (we are meant to be fat burners)
- Eat nuts, nut butters, lentils, beans, high oxalate foods ever (but especially every day like I was)
- To be veggie/vegan/raw vegan/fruitarian/breatharian
We are also not ‘designed’ to…
- Live in boxes, in front of screens
- Stare a blue light on screens & general household lighting every day
- Miss sunrise and not sleep as close to sunset as possible
- Wear sunglasses & sun creams (and cover up our skin)
- Not have as much skin as often as possible during the day in contact with the earth
We are animals, clever animals yes, but still animals. As such we thrive when we are spending as much time as possible connected to the earth and fuelling ourselves in a natural way.
The transition from being a plant-based health coach & human, to animal-based one (that also focusing on circadian rhythms/nature & of course the nervous system) has been a long and often difficult one, my body took time to change from carb fuelling back to its original fat fuelling ways, and the bile issues, oxalate dumping and histamine issues were through the roof. However, I can safely say with each month that passes I feel even better than the month before.
In the last 3.5yrs since changing things around, the heart conditions have completely disappeared, the perimenopause also completely gone, the Hashimoto’s now down to 59 (so not there at all according to most Doctors), and the thyroid issues also almost completely gone (I expect they won’t exist when I get my next bloods done).
The other crazy thing though is all the general signs of ‘aging’ are also disappearing! Aches and pains, lumps, bumps and pains all gone. Strength and stamina are through the roof, and I recover from exertion so quickly and I don’t ache whist or after gardening. My brain is switched on, I’m even more productive and some lumps I’ve had in my breasts and jaw for over two decades have gone, plus my back and neck pains I’ve had from an injury when I was 11 years old, all gone!!
Now I am fuelling myself in the most natural way through light, electrons, nature, food my body is in turn reversing aging, healing as a cellular level and thriving. I did not think it was possible to feel better than I did, but with every week, month, and year that passes my body repairs more and takes me to the next level of health… it’s so wild!
I know this can be a lot to take in, so, in a nutshell this is how I believe we thrive as human beings…
By being as natural as we can! It’s the least complicated approach to health there is.
