Fruit Leathers Recipe

Ingredients

500g (roughly) of fruit of your choosing

100ml of fruit juice (like the juice of lemon, orange or lime)

1 tbsp. honey or maple syrup if it does not taste sweet enough for you

Optional: a pinch or two of cinnamon

 

Directions

  • Remove skins (if tough) and seeds (for apples and pears) and chop up into small pieces
  • Add fruit to a heavy bottom pan with fruit juice and cook for around 1 hour, until soft (stir frequently)
  • Take off the heat and taste, if not sweet enough add the honey
  • Blend with a stick blender until smooth (if still a little runny the cook for a little longer) it should be at least smoothie thickness
  • Spread evenly and thinly over some dehydrator sheets and dehydrate at 125ºF for 6-8 hours
  • Carefully remove/peel away from the sheets and cut into small pieces or long lengths and roll up.  Place in a glass jar and they will keep for weeks.
