Did you know that among the other hundreds of things fermented foods and drinks are good for is food intolerance’s, chemical sensitivities and allergies, especially from things like Hay-fever?
Why is this?
1. They improve the health of the digestive system, meaning the whole body is stronger and healthier.
2. They strengthen the immune system.
3. They reduce the symptoms of hay-fever because they bring down inflammation.
4. They help you absorb essential nutrients from your food, In particular, the mineral magnesium (which helps hay-fever).
5. They encourage the growth of good bacterial within the body, so bad bacteria and infections are less likely to take hold.
I totally love fermented foods and drinks, they help so many health issues, increase your energy, they taste yummy and they reduce food waste. What’s not to love!?
If you still aren’t totally sure what fermented foods are then check out my short little video about them here.
NOTE: If you are new to fermenting and also if you feel you have a digestive issue then make sure to only have a very small amount daily to start with and very slowly build up because fermented foods and drinks are strong detoxifiers and may clear you out quicker than expected otherwise.
If you have any fermenting questions please feel free to post them below or check out my other fermenting videos on YouTube here.
I am running another Fermenting Workshop on 6th July at 6pm, find out more here.

For people with sensitivity to histamines, fermented foods may be contraindicated. It is interesting that you address allergies with fermented foods, I would think the same but one day in the midst of a serious allergy attack, as I reached for the kombucha, a smart young man pointed out to me that fermented foods are high in histamine and that kombucha would possibly worsen my symptoms.
Do you know anything about this?
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for your comment. If it’s reduce allergies / heal the digestive system then fermented foods are amazing for this. If you are actually having an allergic reaction sometimes they help and sometime they do not. The best thing (which will probably gross you out) for an allergic reaction is actually your own urine. It creates a feed back loop and stops the allergic reaction in it’s steps. If you believe you have histamine issues then following my Cleanse program protocol should address this so you’ll be fine moving forward with fermented foods then.
